Inglés B2 First · Test 1

Ready for B2 First – Unit 6 · Teoría, vocabulario y ejercicios tipo examen

1. Defining relative clauses (p. 84)

The girl who lives next door is my friend.

Pronombres relativos

PronombreSe usa paraEjemplo
whoPersonas (sujeto)The man who called me…
whichCosas y animalesThe car which I bought…
thatPersonas, cosas y animales (solo defining)The book that I read…
whosePosesión (cuyo/a)The girl whose dad…
whereLugaresThe house where I live…
whenTiempoThe day when we met…
whomPersonas como objeto (formal)The person whom I met…

who → that (personas) · which → that (cosas). Whose, where y when no se cambian por that.

¿Cuándo se puede omitir el pronombre?

Función¿Omitir?Ejemplo
Sujeto (hace la acción)NOThe woman who called me is Ana.
Objeto (recibe la acción)SÍThe woman (who/that) I called is Ana.
Si va otro sujeto (I, you, he, we, they…) → es objeto (who I called) → se puede omitir.
Ej.: The money (that/which) we inherited from our grandmother… → se omite porque WE es el sujeto.

2. Non-defining relative clauses (p. 88)

Añaden información EXTRA sobre algo ya identificado. My brother, who lives in Madrid, is a doctor.

Las 3 reglas

  1. Nunca THAT (who/which no se cambian por that).
  3. Van entre comas.

My friend who lives in Bilbao is a teacher. (tengo varios amigos: digo cuál)
My friend, who lives in Bilbao, is a teacher. (añado un dato)

WHICH para toda la frase anterior: He forgot my birthday, which made me sad. = …lo cual me puso triste.

3. Causative passive: have / get something done (p. 90)

SUJETO + HAVE / GET + OBJETO + PAST PARTICIPLE

I had my car repaired. = Me repararon el coche. (I + had + my car + repaired)

have = más neutral · get = más informal. I had / got my hair cut.

El tiempo lo marca HAVE/GET; el verbo final siempre en participio

Los que NO encajan en el ejercicio: bald hair (bald describe a la persona: he is bald) · pierced eyes (lo correcto: piercing eyes) · thinning face (thinning va con hair) · well-built complexion (well-built describe el cuerpo).

6. Listening – Part 1

  • Atento a opiniones, sentimientos, intención y cambios de opinión (“at first I thought… but actually…”).

7. Reading and Use of English – Part 5

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to enquire about the English course advertised on your website.

Firstly, I would like to know whether the course is suitable for students who are preparing for the B2 First exam. Furthermore, I am interested in the evening classes, which would allow me to continue working. In addition, could you tell me if the price includes the course books?

I would be grateful if you could send me further information about the timetable and the enrolment process.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,
Laura Gómez

Fíjate: who are preparing (defining), , which would allow me (non-defining con coma), ninguna contracción.

9. Logistics Dossier – Unit 1: Logistics emails
